子萝刚把上午收拾出来的那片荒地整饬得像个样儿，打算歇口气喝口水，就听见旁边老槐树底下有动静。那嗓门贼难听，像砂纸磨木头似的，子萝皱着眉抬头瞅去， Immediate leapt into her eyes was a man in a shabby blue cloth jacket, his hair a tangled mess as if struck by lightning. He was holding a polished锄头, giving her a hard stare.

"City girl, are you?" The man bellowed, his voice rough as gravel. He leaned against the tree, crossing his arms, his eyes fixed on her like he wanted to eat her alive.

子萝心里顿时就起了火。这人也太没礼貌了吧？连句话都不会好好说，直接就开吼。她哼了一声，没好气地回道："怎么着？城里来的就得让你呼来喝去啊？"

The man's eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a snarl. "What's your problem, ya city chicken? Don't you know who I am?"他指了指自己，得意洋洋地说。

子萝心里更烦了。这人在村里是何方神圣？她根本不认识。她正想怼回去，就听见旁边传来一个细细的声音："大哥，您这声儿大点吓着人家姑娘了。"

说话的是个十二三岁的丫头，梳着两个小辫子，背着个小竹篮，正蹲在田埂边上择菜。子萝这才发现，这丫头手里的菜叶子都有些蔫了。

The man grunted, turning his attention to the girl. "Miaomiao, what is it?" he said, his tone still harsh.

Miaomiao looked at子萝, then back at her father, her expression full of concern. "Father, this city girl has been working hard in the field. You should be nice to her."
